Admissions Requirements

Eligibility and Enrollment Requirements

Nashville Big Picture High School has unique requirements and expectations of students specific to the Big Picture Learning model. Due to this, the eligibility requirements apply for applicants of Big Picture High School and students must continue to meet the eligibility requirements as a condition of admission and continued enrollment.

  • The applicant/student has at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) during the previous semester.
  • The applicant/student has no more than five (5) unexcused absences during the previous semester. Note: Due to our school design—which consists of three (3) content academic days and two (2) internship days—it’s extremely important that students maintain satisfactory attendance.
  • The applicant/student is or is no longer on-pace to graduate, with the designated graduation cohort, in four (4) years and a summer.
  • The applicant/student has no more than five (5) violations of the MNPS Student Code of Conduct (level 200 or above) during the previous semester. Note: The school design requires students to participate in internships in the local community with supervision by community mentors at their local business. It is imperative that students adhere to the MNPS Student Code of Conduct because failure to do so can jeopardize their success, completion of the internship program, as well as existing school local business partnerships.
  • The applicant/student agrees to and must participate in the key pillars of the school’s design. Those pillars include the following:
    • Mandatory participation in grade level advisory activities such as attendance, career/passion exploration, social and emotional (relationship) learning opportunities, personalized learning time, pursuing passions through projects and internships, and quarterly exhibitions/family meetings.
    • Senior Capstone Completion
    • Gateway (10th grade) Process Completion

Enrolled students failing to adhere to the eligibility requirements noted herewith, at the end of the semester, will be required to enroll at their zoned school or another choice school.

Admissions Interview and Presentation

So, you have Scheduled your Interview...What's Next?

During the admission audition students will share their presentation by creating a brief video about themselves and why they are excited to attend NBPHS.

  1. The mini-presentation will be 5 to 8 minutes long.
  2. Students can use a PowerPoint presentation, a poster, or other visual aids to add to their presentation.
  3. The video will need to be recorded on a phone or computer and submitted during the MNPS Optional Schools Application Process.

Presentation Goals

Tell Us About Yourself

The goal of the presentation is to provide initial information about the applicant and answer the question of "Who Am I?"

  • The student will introduce themselves – provide first and last name (answer questions, share pictures, interests, aspirations, etc.)
